Wordpull — a free typing tug-of-war game
Wordpull is a free browser typing game where raw speed isn't everything. You and an AI typist grab opposite ends of a rope. Every word you type pulls the knot toward your side — but you choose which word to type from three cards on the table, and that choice is the game. There is nothing to install and no signup: the page loads in about a second and you're pulling ten seconds later.
How to play
- Three word cards sit below the rope. Start typing any of them — your first letter picks the card.
- Finish a word and the rope lurches your way. Longer words pull harder, but take longer to type.
- Type a word with zero typos and you build HEAT — each flawless word in a row makes your pulls stronger (up to ×1.75).
- A typo drops your heat back to zero. The wrong letter simply doesn't register, so you never have to untangle a mess — but the AI keeps pulling while you stumble.
- Drag the knot past your line to win. If the duel runs long, the lines creep inward — someone always wins.

Strategy tips
- Long words are efficient, short words are safe. An 8-letter word pulls ~10 units in one lurch, but a typo mid-word wastes more of your time. When your heat is high, protect it with words you're sure of.
- Heat is most of your power. Five flawless words nearly double your pull. Slowing down 10% to stop typos is almost always worth it.
- Watch the AI's side — it types in bursts and pauses between words. Big pulls land hardest right after it finishes a word.
- In the final stretch (lines creeping inward), one long flawless word can end it.
The Daily Gauntlet
Once a day, everyone in the world gets the same gauntlet: three duels back-to-back against AI level 2, then 5, then 8 — with the same seeded word stream for every player. No retries; win or lose, the gauntlet moves on to the next duel. Your result is duels won plus your average WPM, wrapped in a share string like Word Pull Daily #12 ⚔️ ✅✅❌ 2/3 · 41 wpm. The share link carries your score as a challenge — friends who open it see your result on the menu and are dared to beat your gauntlet, and their results screen shows whether they did. Finish the gauntlet on consecutive days to build a daily streak — a week chain calendar strip on the menu shows your last 7 days, with today pulsing until you finish — and check the 📊 daily record on the menu for your lifetime stats — gauntlets finished, perfect 3/3 days, duels won, and your best daily average WPM. A new gauntlet drops at midnight, your local time — and once you've played two days in a row, the game remembers yesterday's score and challenges you to beat it. Coming back after a break? The game greets you with your lifetime best daily average and dares you to top it. The daily never touches your endless-ladder level — it's a fair, fixed test you can compare with friends. After you finish, the results screen shows today's rivals — how many players finished the gauntlet in the last 24 hours, the best average WPM among them, and where you rank.
Everything is anonymous: rivals are just a count and a speed, never names or accounts.
The AI ladder
The AI ladder never ends. Level 1 is a hunt-and-peck beginner (about 17 WPM); by level 10 it's a machine-gun 80+ WPM typist, and past that it just keeps getting faster — every level adds roughly 7 WPM, forever. Win a match and it levels up; win by a landslide and you skip two levels — but lose your first match after a leap and the ladder sets you back to the level you jumped over, so every rung is earned. Lose and it stays put so you can run it back. Your level is saved in your browser, so the climb is waiting whenever you come back. How high you can climb is the real score — nobody outruns the ladder forever. When you lose, the game shows your closest push — how far you dragged the rope toward your win line — and remembers your best push at each level, so even a long grind against a wall shows real progress from attempt to attempt. Breaking a level you had to grind never skips you past the next one, and after a long string of losses at one level the loss screen offers a step down — drop one level by choice, with your peak level kept on record.

Do I need to sign up or download anything? No. Wordpull runs entirely in your browser and is free, with no account and currently no ads.
Is this good typing practice? Yes — it rewards exactly what typing tutors teach: accuracy first, then speed. The heat system pays you for clean streaks, not frantic guessing, and every match shows your WPM and accuracy.
What's the difference between the daily and endless mode? The daily gauntlet is the same three duels for everyone, once a day — a fair test you can share and compare. Endless is your own private climb up a ladder that never ends. Play the daily first, then take your warmed-up fingers to the ladder.
Does it work on phones? Yes — tap the screen and type on your keyboard. It's best with a physical keyboard, though.
Does it work on school Chromebooks / laptops? Yes — anything with a modern browser and a keyboard.
